Let's Write Neutrality between!
CAN I GET A WITNESS
The lunch bell rang and I packed up my stuff before heading out to find my soulmate. Somewhere along the way, Beckett's arm had slung around my waist and I barely registered the action as my eyes sort out the ones I was looking for. I saw my Alpha first, with her girlfriend wrapped securely In her arms and that's when I finally saw her. A scowl quickly took over my face at the sight. She was standing between Carter and Stacie with the most adorable blush on her cheeks, what's wrong with this picture you ask? Its what's causing the blush. Her 'Jerk', because I refuse to refer to him by the term everyone else uses, had an arm loosely hung around her shoulder, hand hovering awfully close to her breast while her kissed at her neck. I felt Beckett's hand lightly squeeze my own in comfort as we approached.
"Get a room." I groused, noticing for a brief second, that sadness flashed through her eyes, which quickly replaced with an annoyed eye roll and a pointed look at Beckett's hand resting gently against the bare skin of my hip, his stroking thumb was more for comfort then an attempt to get into my pants. I cocked an eyebrow at her pointed stare before my eyes flitted to Anna to acknowledge my Alpha. She was watching our exchange with clear unbridled pain in her eyes and I mentally hit myself, as I did every day at school. As an Alpha Steppe, Anna was Perevy to the entire packs feelings when within their presence, and despite my ability to bury long endured pain behind walls only breakable by the one causing them. Anna had no such defence and the unbearable amount of pain I feel every day from seeing my soulmate in the arms of another transfers to her every time we're in the same room. I know I keep referring to Victoria as my soulmate and that's because I know for a fact that she is. When a Steppe wolf sees their soulmate for the first time, they immediately know that they are looking at their lifebound. Some wolves act on their bond immediately, some dance around each other, others might take it slow or become friends before partners and the last few will completely ignore the bond for a multitude of reasons. I'm in that last few. You see...
Something you don't know about West, She was once the Alpha of the Western Pack. Last year, after school. I gave West control as she was taking Anna, our Beta at the time. to see Red about a pack issue. I felt the pulse the strong pulse second hand as it hit West full force, energy flowed beneath black and grey fur, tingling through muscle and bone alike. I felt her eyes dart around for the source and that's when I saw her, West showed me the image of a sleek grey and black wolf, watching us with bright seafoam eyes, 'A Steppe from the Northern Pack.' I heard West acknowledge softly to Anna. The she-wolf seemed frozen, by shock maybe before she shook her head and bolted off into the forest. Neither of us saw her again until two weeks later when Victoria had started dating Daniel. I was running late to school and I guess she was too as both our wolves had control to get us to school quicker. West saw her long before she noticed our presence and right before our eyes, unknowingly. She shifted and we knew our soulmate was already in a relationship, a happy one too. You should know that I am not over exaggerating when I say that not being able to be with ones soulmate kills you inside, because it literally does. We lasted a week before neither myself or West could handle her presence so close any longer and we fled. When we finally returned last month, we had mastered the ability to control our reactions and hide our pain. Victoria was now with Rider but she still seemed happy and that was enough, despite our own deep rooted pain, our soulmate was happy. Anna, now Alpha - welcomed us back with open arms and sympathetic eyes. West refused to take back Alpha or to become a Beta and we settled into Franky's old role as a defender.
I had to turn my head from the sight of him all over her. Beck nudged me, knowing of my feelings for the thin brunette and i was about to tell him im ok like i do every other time but my head snapped to Anna's when West's hearing picked up the new Eastern Alpha's howl, i could tell she was calling for Beca alone by Anna's expression and the fact that I couldn't understand anything but the frantic edge to Governor's message. My mind dully noticed that all but Rider and Beck froze at the sound but I was more focused about the worried look glazing over my Alpha's eyes. As Governor's faint howl faded with the ending of her message, both Carter and I waited for Anna to process. After a moment Anna's eyes flickered to the others not within our pack before focusining back on us.
"Come, we must leave. Governor ventured into our den as she needed to discuss something with Beca and she found Red." Anna wouldn't say any more, she just shifted her arm from around Brittany and turned to leave. My eyes flickered over the stunned expressions of Britanny, Tori and Stacey before i moved to follow Anna and Carter. Afew paces from the group, Rider and Beck sporting confused looks while Britanny, Tori and Stacey were looking at us with what looked like recognision.
Anna met Brittany's eyes before flicking over Tori and Stacey.
"Governor has asked me to bring Echo, Vega and Hunter. We must leave now." She responded in a stern tone before striding back down the hallway. I looked between my Alpha and the three now confirmed members of the Eastern pack, my eyes briefly meeting Tori's before I sighed and followed my Alpha, a confused Carter at my side and the three females following afew paces behind us.
The moment we were out of the building Anna had releassed control and Beca bolted off in the direction of the Forest. With a fleeting glance behind us to ensure that the others were folowing I allowed West control and I heard the pounding of Alexis' paws behind me closely followed by three more sets. I smelt it the closer we got to the den. Blood. The closer we got the louder the sounds became. My muscles burned as I forced my body ahead of my Alpha and towards the fight we could now hear. Through the clearing in the trees ahead I could see Governor fighting off two males. She was splattered with blood and currently pinned to the ground by one of the strangers. I forced my body futher and the moment I was within distance I lunged at the male pinning her down. We hit the ground afew paces from Governor and my jaw crushed his neck. I released him once he stopped struggling and looked up to see Alexis standing over the second male, who was unconcious and Beca sitting beside the still body of red with closed eyes. Echo, Vega and Hunter were crowded around Governor who was panting heavily on her feet. I took in a deep breathe and forced myself to my feet before crossing the small distance between us. The three eastern wolves moved out of my way so I could stand before their Alpha who slowly raised her head to meet my eyes. I looked over her for a moment before my eyes flitted over the scene. I looked to Beca who hadnt moved before looking back to Governor. My ears cocked back and I nuzzled into the Alpha's chin with a soft whine, my muzzle twitched slightly when she returned the nuzzle, i then pulled back and licked the blood from her cheek. With another soft whine in her direction I got up and moved to my downed packmate.
"Alpha." I acknowledged Beca with a brush of my tail before I circled the beated body of one of my Beta. I sniffed at her body, drawing in the scents of her attackers before licking at her wounds and assessing her state. I pulled back with a low growl. "Balefire." I lip raised in disgust at his name. My eyes then shot to Alexis. "Lexi, go get Jess and Ari, I don't care if Jess has someone bleeding out on her table. We need her immediantly." I demanded and Alexis nodded before sprinting back towards Wentworth. I then turned my eyes to Beca who still hadn't moved. "Alpha." I barked at her and she seemed to snap back out of her stunned state.
"Ss...Sorry West." She stuttered as her eyes seemed to refocus.
I looked behind her to the Eastern wolves before looking back down at Red.
"Your orders Alpha?" I asked softly and Beca shook her head before getting to her feet, I noticed the change within her. Her tail had rissen and she looked at me with hard eyes.
"You get her out of this forest." She said in a hard voice before turning, hackles raised as she looked to the unconcious wolf who Alexis had left. "I'll be right behind you." I instantly recognized the threatining undertone in her voice and nodded.
I pulled Red onto my back, ignoring how her blood doused my fur before starting in the direction Alexis had went.
"Come, Eastern Wolves. The forest is not safe right now." I called over to Governor and the three she-wolves. I noticed Governor hesitate slightly with a look to Beca before she moved to follow her pack mates following her movement.
"Governor." Beca growled out, and the limping Alpha glanced back at Beca with slight confusion. "Call your pack, we have much to discuss. These animals aren't just out for my pack but yours aswell." She all but snarled and I noticed the uncocious wolf stirring as Governor nodded. I started off not wanting to see the Bloodbath, but we were barely afew treelines away when we heard the males cry as Beca began questioning him.
As we moved in the appartment's direction I could sense eyes on my flank and I shivered at the feel of my Soulmates eyes boring into me. A pain ripped through my chest and I couldn't hold in the soft whimper that I released as my steps faltered slightly. I felt Governor press into my side to help steady me, despite her limp and I smiled at her. We walked in silence for a moment before the golden she-Alpha spoke.
"Are you alright?" She asked softly, i noticed her ear flick back to pick up her packmates noises, even though her eyes were focused ahead of us.
"Yes... It's just... painful." I murmered in response and she nodded.
Governor looked over me with a soft eye before nodding.
"I know..." She whispered before stopping her packmates following suit.
"Alpha?" Hunter questioned and Governor looked to me before looking over her three pack mates.
"Echo, go find Beca. Be careful, accompany her till she comes to find us. Stay safe and treat her as if she is your alpha." Governor commanded and Echo nodded with slight confusion before running off. Governor then turned to Hunter. "Go get Emilie, if you cross paths with Alexis and Arizona. Stick with them." She directed and Hunter nodded before heading off. Vega sat down with her ears cocked back as she waited for a command. "You will stay with West." Was all she saud before she took off leaving me stunned beside an equally stunned she-wolf.
"But Alpha!" Vega called after her, but the golden wolf didn't stop. I sighed at the Alpha wolf before sideglancing at Vega who was watching me warily.
"Move it Vega. We gotta get Red off the street." i groused as I started off again and i felt bad when I noticed her ears drooped, tail tucked between her legs.
After we got to the appartment and everything was straightened out (See "Death In His Future" For more information on what happens.) I found myself (Elizabeth) sitting on the window seal in Anna and Ruby's appartment. Anna was in her bedroom going over afew more things with Erica. Nicole stood leaning against the bedroom door waiting to escort Erica to the appartment she shared with Stella. Brittany and Victoria were sitting on the lounge talking quietly, I noted that Victoria kept glancing my way but I did my best to ignore the lithe brunette. My body was itching to get outside and run in the forest and despite Anna's words. My body moved of its own accord. I made it to the door and was about to leave through it when Nicole's voice reached my ears.
"Where are you going?" She asked softly, arms still crossed and eyes still closed.
"West needs out, and so do I." I responded imediantly Nicole's voice took on a hard edge.
"Take Victoria." She said sternly and I noticed Tori's eyes look to me.
"I will not. West wants to be alone." I responded harshly not caring about Tori flinching at my words.
"Alpha has ordered none of us to be alone at all times she then proceeded to partner you two with Victoria and Vega. You will do as Alpha says." Nicole asserted and I felt West snarl within me. I took a threatening step towards my calm Beta, anger radiating off of me.
"Do not attempt to pull rank with me." I snarled and for the first time since calling out to me, Nicole opened her eyes.
"If it's out you want. I'll give you an out." Nicole responded and I could tell they were Franky's words. I was quite for a moment, allowing West to think over Franky's offer and before long we were in the backyard.
"I know what your going through West." Franky murmered as we circled on the soft grass.
"You couldn't possibly have any idea, you two have a fresh slate while we're sitting on years of pain." I whined out and my voice cracked but I didn't care.
"Then show me. You know I won't go easy on you, but let it all out." Franky encouraged before lunging at me. I easily dodged before spinning at her and knocking her to the ground.
"Pain from other sources will help reduce pain within the heart." Franky said before slashing at my face and pushing me off of her. When she ran at me again I allowed her to land a hit and her fangs ripped through the tender flesh of my hip before shoving be backwards, where my back smashed into the fence. Despite the pain now coursing down my spine. The pain of Vega's presence had lessened some within my mind. I got to my feet again but Franky was already on me again. Her jaw wrapped around the nape of my neck and she tossed me across the yard where I felt my body collide with a solid rock before i dropped to the ground.
It was only when Beca followed Erica, Victoria and Britanny came from the house, that I realised I had verbalised the pain I was in.
"Franky! What is going on here?" Beca snarled out and I felt my Beta back off of me. I staggered to my feet before looking Beca straight in the eyes. She immediantly backed up whining in pain and shaking her head, trying to free herself of the pain.
"I'm sorry Beca... I can't do this." I whispered before, despite my injuries. I zipped across the yard and Scaled the fence.
Franky slunk over to Beca and when her breathing eavened out and she sat up straight Franky spoke.
"She is not strong enough to handle this." Franky whispered and Beca spun around.
"Vega." She barked and Victoria flinched before allowing Vega control and when Governor didn't object, the young wolf slunk down the stairs and over to the Alpha.
Beca sat down and looked at the grey wolf with sad eyes.
"You must know that when a Steppe Wolf can not be with their soulmate they physically die on the inside." Beca groused and Vega nodded. "You also know that West is your soulmate.?" Beca asked and Vega nodded, with her ears cocked back and her tail wrapped around her legs. "How long have you known?" She asked and Vega looked up confused, "Since the night of the fire. When I first saw her back at your den." Vega responded and Beca nodded. "West has know since last year, afew weeks before you started dating Daniel." Beca explained and Vega looked up in shock. "As you know, but a week after you started dating Daniel. Elizabeth dropped off the face of the earth, untill last month when she returned. That is no coincidence." Beca said and Vega nodded sadly as she continued. "Before West knew you were her soulmate, she was the Western Alpha." Beca acknowledged and Vega gasped. "She seemed to be doing ok, living with the fact that her soulmate was with another, but on the inside it was killing her. It barely took her a week to give in to the pain. She left instructions for me to take over the Alpha's position and her and Elizabeth fled. When they returned, everything changed. Her carefree nature was solid stone. She was cold, ruthless, always angry. but she wasn't dead, and I thank everyone I know, every day that she is alive." Anna finished, before looking down at Vega who was whimpering. "Her interaction's with you and Victoria are not because she hates you but put yourself in her situation. You dangle a juicy steak infront of a starving wolf and say they can't eat it. Their first instinct is to reject the smell and sight of it. Put it out of their mind. The term 'Bullying someone you like.' Literally applies." Beca finished. "now you listen to me." Beca growled and Vega sat up, head lowered as she nodded. "You are going to find West and make this right. If i so much as see you looking at Rider tomorrow. There won't be anything left to look at." Beca snapped and Vega jumped to her feet before following West's path out of the yard.
I banged on Beck's trailer door until he opened it and before I could hold my body back i lunged towards him and he allowed us to fall back onto the couch he slept on. He rubbed my back softly cooing words of comfort as I cried into his shoulder over the pain and anger I found myself filled with. A howl broke through the air and my eyes shot out the window of his trailer to see my soul-mate standing on the boys driveway. Beck softly moved me to sit on the couch before he crossed to the door and slowly opened it. He looked down at Vega with confusion before glancing back at me and at the pained look that crossed my glassy eyes he knew who stood just outside. He looked back down at the Seafoam wolf with a stern expression.
"What do you want?"
